Records tumble and crowds erupt


Wednesday, June 17 in the second round of Group A of the FIFA Confederations Cup 2009 will be a day when records fell. Spain favorite company was the first country in the semifinals after a hard fought 1-0 victory over Iraq defensive discipline, while the armies of South Africa defeated New Zealand 2-0 to chalk up the first success of the FIFA Confederations Cup and send the Rainbow Nation in collective ecstasy.

The champion of Europe have been more subdued in front of goal this time, but Mangaung / Bloemfontein crowd of witnesses weight in importance. Match-winner David Villa netted his 30th goal of becoming the country of Spain, the second highest goalscorer of all time and the 44 goals from Raul. In Furia Roja also recorded 14 victories on the back, the same record now shared by Australia, Brazil and France.

Later in the evening, Rustenburg has provided a stage for a glorious prelude to next year's main event. In Spain, in Iraq, clashes continue in goal after 44 minutes, so fans are matters into their own hands. A wave of Mexico emerged from nowhere, followed by thunderous and sustained applause. Rhythmic ritual continued until the mid-range five minutes after the restart, as the boisterous crowd of only established on the basis of the results for themselves.

A touch of Latin American style infused Rustenburg too. Apart from the rolling waves of Mexicans, the vast African drums began beating in an unmistakable rhythm of Samba. The combination of normal, at least, provided that other appetite-whetting moment on the road to FIFA World Cup 2010. The atmosphere in the Bafana Bafana accessory once again that the world's favorite game has a special place in the hearts of all people living in the South African people.
